Taunton Town manager Gary Johnson said Taunton Town will ‘dust themselves off and go again’ after suffering defeat in a derby fixture against Tiverton Town.
The Peacocks were beaten 2-1 by their rivals from along the M5 in what was the first defeat since Gary Johnson took charge of the first team.
Speaking to the club’s media after the game he said: “You never like to get beaten in any derby game, and it was an unbelievable finish for their winner.
“After we scored, it looked like we had every opportunity to go on and win the game ourselves, we had three or four good chances, but unfortunately we lost the game in the end.”
Johnson bemoaned the lack of ‘pace, power and penetration’ the side showed in the first half, adding: “I don’t want people to see us playing like that – I don’t wat to be playing like that and I don’t want the players playing like that. Credit to Tiverton, they did it better than us.
“We’ll dust ourselves down and go again very soon…I’m learning a lot more about each individual and the team as a whole, and which ones will help take us to the next level.”
