A former fan favourite has returned to Taunton Town as the club looks like steer itself clear of relegation trouble in Southern League Premier South.
Ollie Chamberlain has signed for the Peacocks on a month’s loan from National League South side Weston-super-Mare AFC.
The midfielder previously spent nine years at Taunton Town, making more than 300 appearances and was part of the side which won Southern League Premier South in 2021-22, earning the club promotion to National League South.
Since 2024, Chamberlain has been playing at that level for the Seagulls.
Announcing the arrival on social media, the club said: “Taunton Town is thrilled to announce that Ollie Chamberlain will be returning to the club on a month’s loan from Weston-super-Mare.
“A fan favourite, Chamberlain will begin his second spell with the Peacocks following a hugely successful nine-year association, during which he made over 300 appearances and secured two promotions, including the historic 2021–22 championship triumph that earned promotion to the National League South.
“Chamberlain has since remained in the National League with Weston-super-Mare, where he has been since 2024, and we are delighted to welcome Ollie back.”
Weston manager Scott Rogers added: “Ollie has worked really hard for this over the last six to eight months, to get himself fit after a horrendous injury away at Chelmsford.
“He’s been training really well with us for a couple of weeks, we just feel that if now he can get a couple of games in then he’ll be a big asset for us over the final couple of months of the season.”
The club also announced that young Cheltenham Town defender Mark Barber has arrived on a work experience loan deal from the League Two club, where Gary Johnson was previously a director of football.
Barber has featured for the Robins a few times this season, starting for the club in an away fixture at Plymouth Arygle, in the EFL Trophy and made substitute appearances against Cardiff City and Barnet.
