Yeovil Town concede four as Solihull Moors win final game

Yeovil Town conceded three goals in the first 15 minutes as they ended their season with a loss to Solihull Moors at Huish Park.

The result means that the Glovers finish the season in 16th, with their opponents' first away win since January moving them up to 14th.

Billy Rowley made two changes from the side that lost to York. Joy Mukena dropped to the bench, and Delano McCoy-Splatt didn't make the squad. Jonathon Page and Terrell Works replaced them.

The away side made six changes from their home defeat to Boston United.

Tyler French, Lewis Baines, Emmanuel Sonupe and Cameron Green didn't make the squad, while Jamey Osborne and Callum McFarlane made the bench. They were replaced by Tobi Sho-Silva, Darius Lipsiuc, Daniel Cox, Oliver Tipton, Jacob Wakeling and Oscar Rutherford.

Yeovil nearly got off to a flying start 38 seconds in. Ryan Jones received the ball on the right, cut inside just outside of the penalty area and unleashed a shot that was tipped over by Laurie Walker.

60 seconds later, it was 1-0 to the visitors. Solihull went straight down the other end of the pitch, and Jacob Wakeling fired a shot from 25 yards straight past Jed Ward, and into the back of the net to give the Moors their first goal in three games.

The Moors doubled their lead in the 12th minute. After playing it around the midfield, the ball was played over to Scott High in the box. He beat Ward at the near post to double Solihull's advantage.

Three minutes later, it was 3-0. This one came on the counter-attack, with Wakeling once again the scorer. He ran from the halfway line and slotted the ball past Ward to put the game to bed 15 minutes in.

Terrell Works gave the Glovers some hope half an hour in. The ball was played to him on the right of the penalty area, he skipped between Cos and Lipsiuc and slotted the ball past the Solihull goalkeeper.

Seven minutes later, the Moors restored their three-goal advantage. Alex Whitmore played a beautiful through ball to Joe Sbarra, and the winger slotted the ball home for his 10th goal of the season.

After a first half which contained five goals, the second half was a lot quieter with Yeovil holding the ball.

The Glovers had a chance with around 20 minutes left when Terrell Works weaved his way into the box and managed to get a shot off, but the ball was saved by Walker.

Ward produced a good save after Yeovil gave the ball away in their own box. The ball fell to Callum McFarlane from six yards out, but the goalkeeper got down well to keep the deficit at three.

The result means that Yeovil finish the season 16th and winless in four games, with their opponents cruising to their first away win since January and finishing 14th.
