Preparations are well underway for Taunton Town after their survival heroics at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Taunton Town won five of their final six games and were undefeated in their last eight games to lift them out of the relegation zone in the Southern League Premier South.

Now the dust has settled, Gary Johnson has begun putting together his squad for the 2026-27 campaign.

The club has confirmed that six members of the squad have agreed to sign on for next season.

Taunton Town announced they have triggered an extension to club captain Nick Grimes’ contract.

A spokesman for the club said: “Grimes’ contributions to the club have been exceptional over many seasons, and with more than 250 appearances for the club, we are delighted to have him strengthening our defence for the 2026–27 season.”

Player of the season Jack Rice has also agreed to extend his stay at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium.

Striker Scott Robinson will also be part of the squad next season.

Robinson signed from Bideford midway through the 2025-26 season and became a fan favourite, scoring six goals.

Niall Thompson has also committed his immediate future to the club, having joined 12 months ago from rival Tiverton Town.

And Dylan Jones, who scored five goals in 16 games from midfield since arriving from Gloucester City in February, will also remain at Taunton Town.

Finally, striker Dan Koita – another player signed from Tiverton Town – will also be part of the 2026-27 squad.
