Wellington AFC’s Ability Counts teams have wrapped up another successful season.
The club, which supports players with disabilities and health conditions, held an awards afternoon at its clubhouse to celebrate the achievements of both junior and senior teams.
The teams use the 3G pitch at Court Fields School on Sundays and compete in the Somerset Ability Counts League.
During the presentation, coaches, players, helpers, and supporters were all thanked for their dedication throughout the season.
Conway Cladding Ltd was also thanked for sponsoring new kit for all the players.
A special annual award, the Fox Waller Shield, was presented for the first time by club stalwart Colin Waller, who recently stepped down as Youth Teams Secretary and Welfare Officer.
Charlie B. was named the first recipient of the shield.
Other award winners included Connor S., who took home the youth Players’ and Supporters’ Player award, and Nathan Bird, who received the senior equivalent.
Brad White was named Managers’ Player in the League team, while Ollie Churchill finished as the League team’s top scorer.
Anyone interested in joining the Ability Counts programme, which is open to players aged 11 and up, can contact Mike Bird on 07709 142805 or email admin@wellingtonafc.co.uk.
