Taunton Town manager Gary Johnson said his side did not show “enough quality” in their 3-1 defeat to Gosport Borough.

The Peacocks went into the away game on Saturday (September 12) on the back of a decent run of results, but came unstuck at Gosport with Scott Robinson scoring the only goal for Taunton.

Speaking to the club’s media after the game, manager Gary Johnson lamented a lack of quality in his side.

He said: “It was a real close game, a good battle.

“They brought in some new players and that brought them up from previous games.

“In the first half I thought we weren’t quite on our best gamer and they were.

“There wasn’t enough quality going in to create two or three goals.

“It was realty the same second half. We put them under a lot of pressure but they were very good on the transition — and we gave it away too many times — they were on us.”

Taunton Town now look ahead to their FA Cup Second Qualifying Round tie at National League South side Salisbury Town on Saturday.

Kick off is 3pm.

The club have also discovered who they will face in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy and will travel to Havant & Waterlooville who play in the same division.

The match will take place on September 26.
