BISHOPS Lydeard extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches with a 2-0 victory away to Castle Cary in the Premier Division of the Somerset County League on Saturday.

Lydeard were without a number of key players due to injury but deserved their victory which came courtesy of two well-taken goals from Jamie Dingle.

Lydeard, who look odd on to clinch third-place, have lost just four matches all season, only one more than title favourites Bridgwater Reserves.

Last Thursday, Dale Webber netted Lydeard’s goal in a 1-1 draw at home to Backwell United.

Lydeard have no game on Saturday and travel to play Burnham next Wednesday.

LOCAL rivals Taunton Blackbrook and Bishops Lydeard go head to head at Wordsworth Drive on Wednesday. For a report, see somersetcountygazette.co.uk
