WATCHET Town continued their climb up the table with two fine wins over the Easter weekend.
They followed a 1-0 victory at home to Cheddar on Saturday with a superb 2-1 success away to title-chasing Shirehampton on Monday.
Shirehampton went ahead after just five minutes with a shot from distance. Watchet weathered the storm that followed and began to get on top after the break.
They deservedly hit back on 70 minutes when Tayler Maddock volleyed home after Aaron Deeks’ flick had hit the bar.
Shirehampton were then awarded a controversial penalty, but Watchet keeper Adam Bishop made a fine save.
And the visitors got the winner ten minutes from time when Steve Perkins rolled in Louis Allen, who drilled the ball home.
On Saturday, Maddock set up Deeks to net the winner midway through the first half.
Watchet are away to Mangotsfield on Saturday and travel to play Blackbrook next Wednesday.
