SOMERSET paceman Steffan Jones, who has been unable to gain a place in the Cidermen’s first team this season, has joined Derbyshire on a month’s loan. The 35-year-old, who began his career at Somerset in 1997, moved on to Northants in 2004 where he spent two seasons and then a year at Derbyshire before returning to the County Ground in 2007.

Earlier this season, Jones spent a month on loan at Kent but since returning to Somerset has been restricted to appearances for the second team.

Jones made his first loan appearance for Derbyshire in their Division Two championship match against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham on Sunday and captured 4-44 in the first innings.
