TAUNTON ABC had three entries in Western Counties Northern Division Senior Novice Finals, hosted by Forest Oaks ABC in Cinderford on Friday evening.

Unfortunately, Emin Zrelli was forced to withdraw due to a foot injury so first in the ring for Taunton was heavy weight Mark Cooper against M.Leslie from Downend ABC.

Both produced good combinations in the first round but in the second, Cooper caught a thumb in the eye. Leslie was then at an advantage throughout the rest of the contest and won on a majority decision.

Taunton’s Ben Stocker was up against D. Aston of Minehead ABC in a four, two-minute round cruiser weight contest. On the bell both boxers really went for it with excellent body and head shots. Aston caught Stocker with some very powerful shots but in turn Stocker caught him with combination punches to the body and head.

Stocker constantly caught Aston with magnificent upper cuts and body shots causing the referee to give Aston a standing count in the fourth round.

This was the best contest of the evening with Stocker winning on a unanimous decision.
