Toolstation League premier division: Wellington 2, Barnstaple 4.
WELLINGTON'S dismal run continued as they suffered their fourth successive league defeat at home to Barnstaple last night.
And it was a similar story to Saturday's reverse at Longwell Green as they enjoyed more possession only to be punished for poor finishing and sloppy defending.
Jordan Charran headed Barnstaple in front midway through the first half and then Ian Patchett doubled their advantage three minutes later.
Wellington needed a goal to get back into the game but it was Barnstaple who made it 3-0 against the run of play as substitute Stan Paxton scored from close range after 70 minutes.
Eight minutes later, a bad night got worse for Wellington when another sub Josh Pearce was found in acres of space to score the fourth.
Wellington finally discovered their shooting boots in the dying minutes and scored a pair of consolation goals by Shane Kingston and Craig Herrod.
Wellington are without a game this Saturday but entertain Keynsham Town in the Somerset Premier Cup next Wednesday (7.30pm).
