RICHARD Archer of Dulverton & DLTC was last week re-elected as Chairman of the West Somerset Tennis League - position he has held since he inaugurated the competition in 1982.

Archer outlined the history of the league, pointing out that in its first year there was only one division of seven teams.

Since that time the League has expanded and now consists of 31 teams in five divisions, the largest it has ever been.

Participating clubs include Dulverton, The Elms (Taunton), Hemyock, Minehead, Taunton, Taunton Vale, Trull, Wellington, Wiveliscombe and Bridgwater.

The new season begins next month.
