Taunton Town FC have announced that first-team manager Paul West has been sacked.

The club's website has reported that the decision was taken at a recent board meeting followign a disappointing campaign which saw the club finish in 17th spot in the Evo-Stik League South and West Division.

Club chairman Kevin Sturmey said:” This decision was one of the most difficult the board have ever had to make and was not taken lightly.

"We felt the club had not progressed on the first team front and ultimately this is how we are judged.

"Although the role of first team manager was not felt appropriate for Paul in the future, every director wishes to see him remain involved with the club in some other capacity and we sincerely hope both him and his assistant Paul Short will.

"The club wish to place on record their gratitude to Paul for his hard work and commitment in the role over the last three years and his unquestionable passion for Taunton Town.”

The club invite applications for the first team manager’s role up to the closing date of Saturday, June 2, and hope to appoint a new manager as soon as possible once interviews have been held.
