Somerset County Premier
Watchet Town 2 Bishops Lydeard 0
LYDEARD's fixtures are now coming thick and fast as the season draws to a close.
On Tuesday night they travelled to Watchet in what was expected to be a tough affair against local rivals Watchet.
It was a competitive encounter as expected in front of the usual partisan Watchet crowd.
It was an even affair in the first half with the score 0-0 at half-time, but Watchet shaded it in the second half and ran out deserved 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Arron Deeks and Connor Jeromson.
On Saturday, they hosted Clutton who are struggling near the bottom of the league, so a win was expected.
And it proved to be the case as the Bishops easily ran out 5-0 winners, with a brace from Charlie Wilson, and one a piece for Tom Melhuish, Mark Clunie. Man-of-the-match Pat Sherwood struck a sweet shot from 20 yards to finish off a fine individual performance.
Lydeard still have nine matches to go, and are still in the title hunt having lost only two matches all season.
