Keyline Cup Final

Tone Youth 4 Bathpool 2 AET

TONE Youth secured a fine double as they added the Keyline Cup to their league title.

A very hot day set the scene for a tough battle as two of Taunton's finest went head to head.

First blood went to Bathpool who took the lead after three minutes when Dale Webber headed home.

Tone hit back well and took control of the game, equalising through a good Jake Quick goal, the star striker making his mark on the game.

All level at half-time, it was Tone who started the second half the better, dominating possession.

They broke through again around the hour mark and took the lead thanks to a tremendous free-kick by Ryan Hassell, who struck an absolute rocket into the top corner of the net.

Tone were now well on top and looked favourites to extend their lead.

They were soon awarded a penalty, and a chance to put the game to bed, but the prolific Adam Smith saw his penalty saved.

It didn't look like it was going to matter, as Tone seemed to quell anything Bathpool had to offer, though they did manage a couple of half chances.

But with only minutes to go, Adam Cook headed home to level the scores and take the game into extra time.

Once again, Tone just seemed to have more energy and got on top, but the first period ended with all still to play for.

The turning point came early in the second period as Tone finally put the rapid Jake Quick through on goal, he finished with class and gave Tone the upper hand again.

Bathpool seemed a bit flat now and just could not respond, and when another penalty was awarded to Tone, Jake Quick stepped up to complete his hat-trick and win the cup for Tone Youth.
