Taunton Vale A 3, ECV Hornets 3

TAUNTON Vale men’s 2nds picked up their first point of the season on Saturday, finishing their 2017 with a 3-3 draw at home to ECV Hornets.

It will come as sweet relief to the team after 11 straight losses, although they have a lot of work to do in 2018 if they are to haul themselves closer to the teams above them.

They return to action on Saturday, January 13, at fourth-placed Teign.

South East 1
East Devon B 3, Taunton Vale C 0

VALE 4ths suffered an away defeat to mid-table fellows East Devon B, which means they end the year in ninth place.

They are at home to North Devon A on January 13.

South East 2
ECV Hornets B 8, Taunton Vale D 0

THE men’s 5th XI also lost out, beaten 8-0 by third-placed ECV Hornets B.

They are second bottom in the table, two points off Yeovil & Sherborne B.

West Dorset A are a further two points ahead, and they visit Vale on January 13.


Central 2
Taunton CS 2, Mendip 1

TAUNTON Civil Service men’s 1sts handed league leaders Mendip their first defeat of the season on Saturday.

The 2-1 win takes the Taunton side up to third from bottom amid the survival scrap, and on January 13 they are at Royal Wootton Bassett.

Civil Service A drew 1-1 at Sidmouth & Ottery C in South East 2, leaving them in fourth spot, and they host Chard B on January 13.


THERE were mixed fortunes for Minehead’s three men’s hockey teams on Saturday, with the 1st XI staying top of South East 1 by winning 10-3 at East Devon A.

Also in that league, Minehead A lost 2-1 at home to Isca D, while in South East 2 Minehead B were thumped 14-0 by Bridgwater C.
