Taunton Titans 36, Old Redcliffians 17
TAUNTON Titans ensured they ended the calendar year on a high with a convincing home win against Bristol-based outfit Old Redcliffians at the Commsplus Stadium.
The hosts came into the match on a poor run, having lost five of their last six matches, but were immediately in control of this encounter thanks to two early tries from Jack Claydon, one of which was converted by Toby East.
Aron Struminski latched on to Sam Brown's kick to stretch the lead to 17-0 and, after the visitors hit back with a try of their own, Titans stalwart Freddie Fraser marked his 100th game for the club with a score.
Sam Brown went over on the stroke of half-time to make the score 31-5 at the break, and Struminski touched down for the second time shortly after the restart.
Old Reds narrowed the deficit late on, but Taunton saw out a comfortable victory that stops the rot going into the New Year.
The Titans return to action at Barnstaple on January 6.
