TAUNTON Titans are hoping to avoid a repeat of last season’s slip up as they welcome local rivals Clifton to the Commsplus Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

The Bristol-based outfit won 32-30 on their last visit to Hyde Park in October 2016, but are struggling towards the wrong end of the National 2 South table this time around and have lost their last two matches.

Taunton, on the other hand, have won five out of six matches since the turn of the year as they continue to push for 100 points and a top three finish.

The game will be preceded by a carvery lunch (sit down at 12.45pm) hosted by The Friends and will be spiced up with an Auction of Promises with a very interesting bag of goodies to be put under the hammer.

Elsewhere this weekend, Wellington and Wiveliscombe - both of whom have seen their promotion chases halted by the weather in recent weeks - are both hoping to return to action.

Wellington, second in Cornwall & Devon, head to Tavistock, who are lower mid-table with five wins from 17 matches this season.

Welly, on the other hand, go into the weekend sat in second, four points behind leaders Penryn but with two games in hand.

Wiveliscombe have dropped to fourth in Somerset Premier but will be confident of recording a victory on the road when they head to basement outfit Bridgwater & Albion 2nds.

In the same divison, Minehead Barbarians host third from bottom Hornets.

Wellington 2nds host North Petherton 2nds in Somerset One, while Wiveliscombe 2nds host Weston-super-Mare 4ths in Somerset Two South.

In Somerset Three South, Wyvern are without a game while runaway leaders Taunton Wanderers are at home to Yatton - Taunton Warriors travel to Drybrook in the South West Pilot League.
