TAUNTON Town have suffered further postponement frustration, with their New Year's Day match against Bideford being called off this morning.

They had already seen their encounter with Paulton Rovers, scheduled for Saturday (December 30) postponed, and after a 9am pitch inspection today, the Bideford fixture has met with the same fate.

Manager Leigh Robinson told the Gazette: "It's a little bit annoying, and I know fans want to watch football at this time of year.

"But as a manager, I'd rather play games in good conditions, and not on a mudbath."

It means that the Peacocks' next match is set to be away to seventh-placed AFC Totton on Saturday, January 6, where Shane White will start his three-game ban for his red card against Cirencester Town, with Ben Adelsbury suspended for one game after being sent off in the same game.

Their next home match is scheduled to be on Saturday, January 13, against Shortwood United.

With Ross Staley leaving for Australia this month and Omar Simpson returning to Paulton, the club are expected to announce two new signings imminently.
