A WELL-KNOWN Somerset author will be releasing his latest book packed with four decades of memories and anecdotes about life in the county.
The latest work by Roger Evans, author of ‘Blame it on the Cider’ and ‘Don’t Tell I, Tell ‘Ee!’, is called ‘Backalong in Somerset’.
It shares Roger’s amusing and absurd memories of life in the county over the last 40 years, with stories such as exploding prawns and toilets, runaway horses, flying pandas, carnival chaos and funerals to make you smile.
Other funny stories include a serious misunderstanding at a women’s institute meeting and a human maypole with three dogs excitedly criss-crossing and intersecting their leads.
Roger, who has written over 25 books, said: “Over the 40 years I’ve met some interesting and funny characters throughout Somerset and I thought it would be nice to collect them altogether in writing.”
Backalong in Somerset, published by Countryside Books, costs £7.95 and is available from local booksellers, some garden centres and direct from the publishers.
