The secrets of our Somerset gardens have finally been revealed…

…by author Abigail Willis, who will be launching her new book next week.

Visitors will have the chance to meet Ms Willis at Yeo Valley Organic Garden in Blagdon on Friday, September 25.

“I’m so excited to be returning to Yeo Valley Organic Garden to launch Secret Gardens of Somerset,” she said.

"Yeo Valley Organic Garden is such an inspirational garden with planting and design ideas that every gardener can enjoy, as well as being a stunning showcase of the benefits of gardening organically.

“I’m thrilled to have been able to feature it in the book and I’m looking forward to introducing Secret Gardens of Somerset to readers and fellow garden lovers at this special event."

The book takes the reader on a tour of the county, offering privileged access to twenty inspirational gardens, including Yeo Valley Organic Garden.

“It was wonderful to meet Abigail and to take part in her new book,” said Sarah Mead, creative director at Yeo Valley Organic Garden.

“We know that we’re still a little bit of a Somerset secret, even though we have many thousands of visitors every year.

"We’re so pleased that we’ve been able to re-open this year and offer people a safe socially distanced visit, with limited numbers in timed appointment slots.

"September is a glorious month in the garden with an abundance of flowers and foliage, and our event on the 25th will be a great way to celebrate the end of our summer season and will give visitors the chance to find out more about this special book on Somerset.”

Tickets cost £6 for a two-hour visit at either 10am, 12.30pm and 3pm. There will be an opportunity to talk to Ms Willis, book photographer Clive Boursnell and tour six and a half acres of ornamental and edible plants.
