Best heifers today to £1560 and £1500 for Messrs HM Heywood & Son. Others £1500 and £1400 Mr MC Powell; £1360 Mr DE Pyle, Exeter and £1260 Mr PJ Searle. Most best heifers around £1200 or more.

Fewer cows forward to £1300 and £1180 for Messrs PD & JL Biss and £1220 Messrs J & H Snook.

Store Cattle, Sucklers & Stirks (985): Store Cattle (691): A very good entry over the Easter Holiday of 985 head of store stock met a full complement of buyers. Despite falling beef prices we had a total clearance with the hard feeding sorts still in great demand. Top price £1250 for a well grown SIMMENTAL x steer (22m & FA) from Messrs GJ & SM Down, High Bickington who had a pen of 22/25m at £1080. A high proportion of BRITISH BLUES when another excellent consignment of well fed steers from Messrs R & E Baker & Son from Cannington, topped at £1190 (18/19m & FA). Other bunches at £1178, £1170, £1152 and £1115. Other Blues from Messrs D & A Mead & Co (25m & FA) at £1172 and a pair from Messrs EJ Collins & Son, Chard (26-27m & FA) sold well at £1145.

Fewer strong CHAROLAIS today when the best from Messrs DJ & AM Morris, Colyton (26m & FA) made £1175 and £1150. Other Charolais at £1168 and £1142 (20m & FA) from Messrs TJ Samways & Son, Crewkerne.

A pen of well grown LIMOUSINS (22-29m & FA) sold to £1150 also Messrs Down and the same price for a pen of three (27/28m & FA) from Messrs Morris. Ram Lambs sold as store lambs are to be declared. Those lots so declared to not contain any ram lambs, which are found post sale to contain undeclared ram lambs, will attract a 25% reduction in the sale price of any ram lambs found.
