Sheep (4542): Greenslade Taylor Hunt report the following sheep trades Store Lambs (3022): Another very large entry of 3022 store lambs sold to another strong, competitive trade for all forward, with the exception of the very small lesser bred lambs. The best sold to £78 and £71.50 from Mr SM Payne. Ram Lambs sold as store lambs are to be declared. Those lots so declared to not contain any ram lambs, which are found post sale to contain undeclared ram lambs, will attract a 25% reduction in the sale price of any ram lambs found.

Grazing Ewes & Rams (1095): A surprisingly large entry of 1095 grazing ewes and rams sold to a much stronger trade than expected, when much lower prices were reported at other centres earlier in the week. Stock Rams (45): A similar entry of rams sold to a more selective trade. Charolais shearlings from Mr LAJ England topped at £400 (x2) followed by £335 and £320. Pedigree Suffolk shearlings to £280 for Mr B Gibbins and Border Leicester 2T to £320 for Mr LAJ England.

Goats (50): A large entry sold to £80 from Horseley Farm Partnership and £70 from Mr DH Turner to average £43.50.

A tremendous run of clean type continental heifers from Mr AL Hobbs sold very well at 214, 212, 211.5ppk for Limousins; 210.5 and 209ppk for Blondes and 208.5, 206.5, 202.5, 202 and 200.5ppk for Charolais.

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a larger entry of 153 cull stock met a very good trade for the time of year. Improved top end prices reflecting the improved types on show. Middle order very similar. Third quarter as dear and the final quarter looked dearer, as despite some lower prices, the final quarter was very, very lean, as working cows show the signs of autumn grass and cooler nights.

Top was 136.5ppk for a good South Devon from Mr DP & Mrs MG White, Axminster. Limousins to 133ppk, Mr RF Rawle, Parracombe and Simmentals to 130.5ppk from Messrs BJ Stephens & Sons, Weston Super Mare. Other native cows to 128.5ppk for a Hereford from Mr R Withers, Nempnett Thrubwell.
