A NEW contemporary art gallery has opened in Wellington.

The Old Brick Workshop Gallery, run by Alison Cosserat, can be found on Poole industrial estate between the recycling centre and Viridor.

The Old Brick Workshop was once part of the historic, Poole Brickworks of William Thomas & Co, an enormous 19th-century brick manufacturer.

While this may seem like an unlikely place to find a cutting edge art gallery, the red brick building, once part of Poole brick works, lends itself to an industrial, modern, creative space.

Once through the door you could be forgiven for thinking you were in a London gallery.

The gallery was launched in October 2015 as venue No.1 for Somerset Arts Weeks Festival. It was host to 13 contemporary local artists and attracted over 800 visitors.

During 2016, the gallery’s aim is to put on a program of exhibitions throughout the year that are modern, thought provoking and diverse.

The current exhibition features the work of Graham Seaton (with collaborative and guest works by Rex Henry) and is called, object/models/proposals.

His exhibition includes an exciting mix of sculpture, installations and photography. Open Thursday to Saturday, 10am - 4pm and the exhibition runs until February 27.

In addition, an artist talk will be held on Saturday 3 from 10.30am - 12.30pm. Graham Seaton will be at the gallery speaking about his work. Tickets are £5 on the door (tea/coffee/cake included.)
