THE ingenious ingenuity of Le Navet Bete in their production of Dracula-The Bloody Truth proved the inspirational tonic on a Thursday evening at the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre in Taunton.
The quartet of actors, who played multiple parts proved inspired in their production which had a touch of the Marx Brothers about its presentation and clowning around.
The rip roaring roustabout of the comedic play proved infectious to the audience who were sucked into a world of Gothic mayhem, mystery and comedy.
You could call it the Transylvanian two step - the two step being the setting up of the joke followed by the prat fall or the unexpected comedy twist.
Le Navet Bete not only broke the third wall of comedy but they also broke the set.
During the 20 minute interval, in some respects they continued the show as the cast attempted to mend the ruined set they broke (comedy value) at the end of act one. If you left at the interval you did miss something.
The two halves of Dracula-The Bloody Truth flowed seamlessly with the audience aching to find out what happens to Count Dracula and if he would be killed by the frenetic and frantic Van Helsing.
The ensemble gave those who attended the perfect antidote to any election blues.
If Le Navet Bete were standing in a local election or even a general election, and a vote had been taken at the end of the show then this manifesto of comedy would have won by a landslide.
