SHERLOCK: THE ABOMINABLE BRIDE (15) 115 mins

THE cinema simulcast of the feature-length BBC One drama written and created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, which transports Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Dr John Watson (Martin Freeman) back in time to the fog-shrouded streets of 1895 London where hansom cabs, top hats and frock-coats are in abundance.

Inspired by the mention of a case in Arthur Conan Doyle's story The Adventure Of The Musgrave Ritual, The Abominable Bride centres on husband Thomas Ricoletti (Gerald Kyd), who is devastated when his wife Emilia (Natasha O'Keeffe) takes her own life.

A few hours later, she is glimpsed dressed in her old wedding gown, prowling the streets of the capital with an insatiable thirst for revenge.

Sherlock and Watson investigate and encounter an enemy from beyond the grave. The case leads the two men and their friends including DI Lestrade (Rupert Graves) from Limehouse to the bowels of a ruined church, where they discover a shocking secret about the phantom.

As well as the episode, nationwide cinema screenings also include a tour of 221B Baker Street and a making-of documentary featuring lead stars Cumberbatch and Freeman.
