NOTHING that critically acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Luke Daniels has done in his illustrious twenty-year folk career could have prepared his followers for his latest project. The talented musicians has combined his outstanding musicianship as a songwriter, guitarist, pianist and melodeon virtuoso with the mechanics of an authentically restored Polyphon machine c1880.
It has an archaically beautiful sound that has fascinated many music composers over the past one hundred years. A rare example of a 19th century 4ft high music box, Luke has reverse engineered the Victorian technology that was used to project music manuscript onto its 20” steel discs to create a sonically and visually stunning piece of live music and performance.
Bridgwater Arts centre. Thursday, February 25 at 8pm. Talk and demonstration starts at 6.30pm.
