FROM perfect piano to brilliant brass, you can expect it all as the music section of the Taunton Festival of the Arts returns this week.
The music and drama weeks of the festival traditionally take place in November, but this year they have been moved to February and March respectively.
Organisers say the switch has paid off with an increase in the number of entries.
The timetable for the Music Festival is as follows:
- Monday (February 2) Taunton School Music department (piano)
- Tuesday, Temple Methodist Church (wind and brass)
- Wednesday, Temple Methodist Church (AM wind and brass; PM strings)
- Thursday, Temple Methodist Church (guitars - AM only, string classes all day), Queen’s College (junior vocal classes)
- Friday, Queen’s College (junior vocal classes)
- Saturday, Queen’s College (senior vocal classes – morning only).
The week ends with two competitions – the Taunton Junior Young Musician of the year on February 7 at Temple Methodist Church, at 9.30am, and the finals of the Taunton Young Musician and Taunton Young Singer at the Castle Hotel on February 8 at 2pm.
Limited tickets are available from Gillian Greig and the Taunton Information Centre.
