I READ with interest the item on waste collection being carried out three-weekly.

This means some interesting changes.

The bins will need, in certain instances, to be upgraded for the additional waste being made between collections by at least 50 per cent.

This will for certain be the need for garden waste.

Also, as the garden waste collection requires a charge to users this will also have to be reduced by 25 per cent to cover the 50 per cent reduction in collection days per year.

The charge already seems unfair as we are paying the user of this waste for collection of a commodity which is the basis of the product which he then markets for a profit.

Not a bad business plan, but unfair to those paying for this collection purely for their profit.
