I URGE anyone with an interest in driving through Taunton to complete the pedestrianisation survey available from the library and elsewhere as well as online.

Those attending the accompanying exhibition in the library seem to be the same shopping-trollied pensioners who were overjoyed over the temporary closure of East Street for roadworks last year.

RELATED: Plan to pedestrianise streets in Taunton town centre

There needs to be a far larger cross-section of the town’s inhabitants to give their views, or the council will go ahead with their misguided plan whilst telling us that most people are in favour.

Closure this time will not make for a safe stretch of road as last time, as cyclists and taxis especially will see to that.

If implemented the part closure of the three roads will bring chaos, especially to Bridge Street and Station Road, and they will be brought to a regular stand-still made worse by the suggested pedestrian lights and other obstacles.

As Jeremy Leyton pleads in his letter (Postbag, March 2), rise up and make your voice heard, or at least complete the questionnaire.
