I READ last week’s Gazette front page headline as to the ‘Secret’ plan for 3,500 new homes (County Gazette, July 6).
If there has to be new development around Taunton, it makes total sense to plan sustainable development around a new motorway junction (and most recognise that Taunton is desperate for a new motorway junction - with Junction 25 just not sufficient for the ever expanding county town).

I believe that such a new motorway junction should afford full motorway access for traffic from the south of Taunton and also from the Racecourse so that the daily gridlock from that traffic in getting to junction 25 is reduced.
Somerset County Council needs to consult with Highways England to ensure that the new dualling (and the link up to the new business park) and the new motorway junction are progressed to benefit Taunton and not just Highways England.
