TRAVELLING on the M5 recently it was saddening to notice the condition of that beacon to the South West the Willow Man.
Stuck in front of the multi-coloured Morrisons depot and surrounded by a vast sea of houses he has lost much of his grandeur.
His appearance is in need of attention as the birds are pecking away at but nothing that a bit of grooming couldn’t put right.
Instead of paying out large amounts of money to erect something new and expensive on the Creechbarrow Hill, perhaps Taunton Deane could put a bid in for him and have it transferred and erected on the site?
I’m sure Sedgemoor District Council would cut us a good deal, saving them ongoing maintenance cost and providing Taunton with a fine feature, as our status as the county town it deserves.
