NEW to Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital, Trabectome is a state-of-the-art, minimally invasive surgical treatment for glaucoma.
As seen in the Mail on Sunday and the Sunday Express, Musgrove is the only hospital in the South-West and one of only three hospitals in the UK offering this revolutionary treatment.
Trabectome is a minimally invasive treatment under local anaesthetic, suitable for patients who are suffering from uncontrolled glaucoma, as well as for patients keen to rid themselves of their eye drops.
Trabectome is particularly successful in glaucoma patients with cataracts, as the two conditions can be treated at the same time.
The procedure is carried out by Jonathan Rossiter, consultant ophthalmologist as a day case and takes only 15 minutes, or 30 minutes if combined with cataract surgery.
