BUDDING cook Dan Wylie won the Rotary Club of Taunton Vale Masterchef competition at Bishop Fox’s School.

The Year 11 student at Queen’s College had to prepare and cook a three-course meal in just two hours.

He impressed the judges with his menu of goat’s cheese, caramelised onions and soda bread to start, a main course of pan-fried sea bass with sweet potato mash and Asian-style green vegetables, followed by a lemon tart with raspberry coulis.

Queen’s head teacher Chris Alcock told the County Gazette: “We’re so pleased that Dan has been inspired by his lessons and the teaching at Queen’s College and that he’s able to go on to study something he loves.”

Dan is now looking forward to the next round of the Masterchef competition in February.
