VIVARY Park has closed again and Taunton Deane Cricket Club is underwater as the floods continue to wreak havoc on the town.
Heavy rain, coupled with a rapid thaw of recent snow, led to the flooding over the weekend as the ground was unable to absorb the excess water after months of extreme wet weather.
The Victorian park was closed last spring and again in November after torrential rain left the land under water. Now the gates have had to be shut again while the water drains away.
The worst hit areas are the play area and the space around the bandstand. It is not yet known if any damage has been caused.
It is the third time the cricket ground has been flooded in the last nine months and club officials say there are meeting with council bosses next week to discuss long term plans to stop the ground, park and nearby golf course flooding.
Chairman Jason Squire said: "It is very frustrating - we are a community club for all to use and we are just hoping the weather improves but we can't control it."
