A POPULAR village footpath has been transformed to give residents, parents and schoolchildren an easier walk around the village.
The footpath, which runs nextto Stoke St Gregory Primary School, connecting Huntham Close to the main road, used to be extremely muddy and treacherous during the winter months.
Work to tarmac the path was completed last week thanks to funding from Somerset County Council’s highways maintenance budget.
The footpath is open for use despite some finaltouches leftto be made.
Cllr David Fothergill, who promoted the scheme, said parents with pushchairs and younger children had found using the path particularly difficult with the recent heavy rain.
He added: “I am delighted we have finally been able to find a long-term solution to this very muddy problem.”
