BEKI Upham hopes her second charity single will ramp up the funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust when it launches on Sunday (September 1).

The 15-year-old student from Bishop Fox’s has sung since the age of four and, over the last year, has been busy writing and playing her own music, touring Taunton’s acoustic circuit.

The self-taught guitarist emulates the likes of Taylor Swift and Jessie J, “who writes honest songs that are very true to her”, says Beki.

“I wanted to do something for the Teenage Cancer Trust because it’s not as well known as some of the other cancer charities. And I know a couple of people who have been struck by it.”

In 2011, she wrote and recorded ‘All I Need’, to raise money for the Taunton Association for the Homeless. The project proved so successful, she’s repeating it.

Proud dad, Steve Upham, said: “I’ve been playing in bands for years, and I can say that, for her age, there’s no way I was anywhere near as good as she is.”

Charity single, A Moment In Time, taken from her three-track EP by the same name, will be available to buy from Beki’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/bekimusic.
