Record numbers support Bicknoller fete in aid of Macmillan
A RECORD number of people supported this year’s annual garden fete in Bicknoller, held for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event raised £3,320 for the charity, after more than 300 people passed through the gates of Old Orchard in the village.
There was a variety of entertainment on hand, from mini snooker to ‘bash the rat’ and ‘knock the parrot off the perch’ to a revolving hat stand.
Music from the West Somerset Brass Band, plenty of delicious home-made food a raffle and numerous stalls, kept everyone happy.
Maggie Pumphrey, chairman of the Coleridge Committee fundraising group, said: “We were really pleased that so many people came along from as far away as Chard, Weston and Tiverton. It was great.
“The fete is one of the best-known events in West Somerset now and people come back every year – it’s wonderful.”
More than £47,000 has been raised for Macmillan in Somerset from the fete alone, since it began in 1990.
