BUSKERS are being invited to liven up Taunton’s open spaces and be in with a chance of performing in front of thousands of people.
Musicians have until Monday, September 9 to apply to Taunton Deane Council to perform in areas such as Castle Green and Goodland Gardens.
Cllr Norman Cavill, councillor for economic development and the arts, said: “We have some wonderful public spaces and many talented people, so what better way to entertain and encourage locals and visitors than by showcasing local talent.”
Buskers – musicians, singers or choirs – should submit the application form along with a film clip or recording, or perform in person to the council’s economic development team.
Successful candidates will perform at the Great Taunton Busk Off on Saturday September 28 in Taunton town centre.
At the event, each musician will be assigned a dedicated busking area for one hour where they can perform their own style of music.
The public will be invited to vote for their favourite and the winning musician will have the opportunity to perform on the main stage at this year’s Christmas event.
Call 01823-356577 or email ecdev@tauntondeane.gov.uk to apply.
