A CLOSE friend of murdered former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko has dismissed claims that a former owner of the Yukos oil company could have been involved in his death.
Russian prosecutors have confirmed that they are investigating the possible role of Leonid Nevzlin in the poisoning of Mr Litvinenko.
Alex Goldfarb, one of Mr Litvinenko's closest friends, said it was "sheer nonsense" to suggest that Mr Nevzlin, who is living in exile in Israel, and other Yukos figures wanted by the Russian Government, could have ordered Mr Litvinenko's murder in London last month.
