GENEROUS visitor Thelma Neate has said a big ‘thank you’ to all those involved in keeping Minehead blooming lovely all year round.

A regular visitor to the resort, she has written to West Somerset Council to express her gratitude for the wonderful displays in The Parks and Blenheim Gardens.

And as a thank you to the staff and volunteers, she is arranging for a sweet treat – biscuits and cake – to be shared among those who keep the spaces in tip top condition.

She wrote to Adrian Turner, the council’s grounds maintenance manager, saying: “As a regular visitor to Minehead I want to say a very big thank you to the people who care for Blenheim Gardens and The Parks.

“Both always look well cared for and I know that someone is always there working.

“I was thrilled to see the daffodils and snowdrops this week, and the squirrels have been a joy.

“If possible, I would like to give perhaps a (large) packet of biscuits or some cakes for these special people to enjoy on their break to show my appreciation.”

Cllr Anthony Trollope-Bellew, environment portfolio holder said: “West Somerset Council is understandably very proud of its wonderful open spaces which provide so much pleasure to residents and visitors.

“It is always gratifying to get a compliment and one so deserved for the staff and volunteers who work so hard in all weathers.”

A team of volunteers work with the council to help keep Blenheim Gardens looking at its best – and new members are always welcome.

Sessions run on a Monday and Tuesday between 9am and 3pm and volunteers can do the hours that suit them.
