A QUICK-thinking lorry driver helped stop a raging barn fire get out of control.
The fire started shortly before 2am in the early hours of Monday (March 10) on a farm in Blackmoor, West Buckland, and was spotted by a lorry driver using the motorway.
He alerted fire crews who found a small barn on fire next to a stable block with horses inside.
Shane Nelson, who rents the property with his girlfriend, said: “The barn is in a remote area and contained gas cylinders.
“Had it not been for a vigilant lorry driver on the motorway it's quite possible our two horses could have been killed.”
Police say no arrest has been made and inquiries into the suspicious circumstances continue.
