A TOTAL of 50 saplings have been given to children at West Monkton Primary School.
Monkton Elm Garden and Pet Centre’s donation will help the school redevelop its nature area.
Sue Martin, year three and four teacher at the school, thanked the garden centre for the gift.
She said: “Our school is currently expanding with new Portakabins to accommodate new pupils.
“Subsequently we lost many trees so the saplings will come in extremely useful for replacing these as well as redeveloping our nature area.”
