A FORMER Taunton teacher has appeared in court accused of inappropriate behaviour with a 16-year-old girl.
Ryan Leverton, who used to teach at Bishop Fox's School, is charged with two counts of sexual touching of a girl aged 16, relating to alleged incidents several years ago.
Mr Leverton, 31, appeared at Taunton Crown Court today (June 2) for a preliminary hearing.
Dressed in a dark suit, white shirt and purple tie, Mr Leverton only spoke to confirm his name and did not enter a plea during the brief hearing.
Prosecuting, Andrew Macfarlane, asked Recorder Nicholas Rowland to set a timetable for future hearings.
Mr Leverton, of Sweet Brier Lane in Exeter, was released on bail and is likely to enter a plea when he next appears on August 8.
After Mr Leverton's appearance, a statement issued by Paul Scutt, head teacher at Bishop Fox's School, said: "The matter relating to a former employee of the school is currently subject to ongoing legal proceedings and it would not be appropriate to comment at this time."
