SEA Scouts and Explorer Sea Scouts from the 1st Watchet Group enjoyed a camping trip at the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset over half term.

The 29 scouts and explorers were able to use their camping skills, pioneering skills and water based skills.

They even built an assault course.

Two patrols from each troop undertook independent overnight expeditions to Brownsea Island, the birthplace of scouting.

They planned and navigated their way over to the Island through the shallow water, keeping in contact with leaders and a safety boat using their VHF Radio Skills.

During the week, many scouts’ awards were gained in camping skills as well as nautical skills for their kayaking, pulling and sailing.

The week was completed with an inter patrol race across the assault course and the opportunity to practise some archery skills.
