9:00pm Monday 23rd June 2014 in News
MUSICIAN Gary Stringer was the star turn at the official opening of children’s charity bibic’s headquarters in Somerton Road on Friday.
Gary, lead singer with Glastonbury-based band Reef, cut a ceremonial ribbon during the Alice in Wonderland-themed tea party event.
Reef, who have supported the likes of Paul Weller and The Rolling Stones, are best known for their hits in the 1990s, including Place Your Hands.
Simone Joyce, community and events fundraiser at bibic, which helps children nationwide with conditions affecting their social, communication and learning abilities, said: “We were delighted to have Gary attending our official open day and helping us to unveil our new fit for purpose premises including our national assessment centre.
“During the event we had a grand Alice in Wonderland-themed outdoor tea party with all of the families we have helped in the past. We also invited local businesses and people from the surrounding community.”
Bibic left its headquarters-of-40 years, at Knowle Hall near Bridgwater, earlier this year.
Simone added: “Our new building is ideal for providing our life changing therapy to children living with conditions affecting the brain.
