THE founder of the Children’s Hospice South-West has been awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours for services to charity and children's palliative care.

Eddie Farwell founded the charity in 1991 and is its current chief executive.

CHSW deputy chief executive, Mandy Robbins, said: “This is absolutely thrilling news and everyone associated with Children’s Hospice South West warmly congratulates Eddie on this justly deserved honour.

“I have had the good fortune of working closely with Eddie for many years and have witnessed first-hand his dedication and commitment to making a difference to the lives of children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

“This award pays tribute to the visionary and inspirational leadership that Eddie has provided in founding and steering Children’s Hospice South-West from small beginnings in North Devon to a region wide children’s palliative care organisation providing care from three children’s hospices.”
