COMPANY director Tracey Smith had the fright of her life when her plane shot off the runaway this morning (Monday, January 19 ) as she headed for a business meeting in Scotland.

Fortunately Tracey was not injured when the Flybe flight from Manchester spun into a field after landing at Inverness Airport.

The first her partner and co-director Steve Wright knew of the incident was when she texted him to say: “Oops. My plane is in a field!”

Mr Wright said: “That’s when the panic started, but then she told me, ‘We’re all safe’.

“She was obviously a bit scared and is shaken up.

“The plane ended up in mud and ambulances and fire engines rushed to the scene.”

The couple live in Churchstanton, where they run Essential Beauty Supplies.

The cause of the incident has not yet been disclosed, although temperatures dipped as low as minus 12degs C in the Inverness area overnight.

It is believed that none of the 47 passengers and two crew were injured.

Services to and from Inverness Airport have been disrupted.
