Lidl gets go-ahead for new store in Taunton
LIDL is to build a new store in Taunton - just yards from Tesco.
The cut-price supermarket is to relocate from its current premises in Wood Street to the site of the former Taunton Youth and Community Centre, in nearby Castle Street.
Taunton Deane Council granted permission for the new development, including parking spaces, at its planning meeting yesterday (Wednesday, January 28).
The existing store Wood Street store will be demolished to make way for riverside retirement flats.
Lidl has another store in the town in Roman Road.
