KING’S Hall School and King’s College, in Taunton, have launched a new bursary fund for students whose parents would otherwise not be able to afford the full school fees.

The initiative was kicked off with £1million, which has been raised and invested, with the aim of raising £5 million over the next 10 years.

King’s College headmaster Richard Biggs said: “King’s Hall School and King’s College have a well-deserved reputation for offering an outstanding all-round education in an environment where children flourish.

“It is our vision that future generations of girls and boys should benefit from the outstanding education our schools provide, regardless of parental income.”

Justin Chippendale, headmaster of King’s Hall School, said: “It is important that perceived barriers are reduced and that people who would never have considered applying to King’s are able to contemplate the possibility.

“Education is a fundamental part of life, and we wish to extend access as far as we possibly can.”
